Vào ngày 18/09/2024, Bộ trưởng Bộ Di trú và Quốc tịch Canada – Marc Miller đã thông báo về thay đổi về chính sách của Canada đối với sinh viên quốc tế. Trong đó bao gồm thay đổi điều kiện xin Giấy phép làm việc sau khi tốt nghiệp đối với sinh viên tốt nghiệp các chương trình sau trung học, đặc biệt sinh viên tốt nghiệp các chương trình tại các trường Cao đẳng công lập sẽ vẫn đủ điều kiện để được cấp Giấy phép làm việc sau tốt nghiệp (PGWP) có thời hạn lên đến 3 năm nếu họ tốt nghiệp một lĩnh vực học tập liên quan đến các ngành nghề đang thiếu hụt dài hạn.
Các trường Cao đẳng (College) tại Canada đang gấp rút hoàn thiện danh sách ngành nghề tuyển sinh, đảm bảo tính đủ điều kiện xin Giấy phép làm việc sau tốt nghiệp lên đến 3 năm cho sinh viên của mình. Điều kiện xin Giấy phép làm việc sau tốt nghiệp (PGWP) tại Canada
Có hiệu lực từ 1/11/2024, việc xin PGWP (Postgraduate Work Permit) ở Canada phải đáp ứng các yêu cầu sau:
Đối với sinh viên tốt nghiệp chương trình Cử nhân, Thạc sĩ, Tiến sĩ
Đối với sinh viên tốt nghiệp chương trình Cao đẳng
Thời hạn của Giấy phép làm việc sau tốt nghiệp (PGWP) ở Canada
PGWP cho phép sinh viên quốc tế ở lại tìm việc làm với một nhà tuyển dụng tại Canada để tích lũy kinh nghiệm làm việc liên quan đến chương trình đã học. Thời hạn của PGWP tối đa đến 3 năm, phụ thuộc vào độ dài khóa học trước đó của sinh viên:
Lưu ý: Sinh viên có thời hạn lên đến 180 ngày sau khi tốt nghiệp để nộp đơn xin PGWP.
